Badges are non-vectorized, 1600 pixel insignias displayed on players' profiles as denotations of a certain accomplishment or purchase. Any unlocked badges are publicly displayed between one's basic mouse stats and one's game mode stats.
History
Badges were introduced on 28 March 2014 as a complement of the Carnaval de Rio 2014 event. Their primary purpose was to replace shop items as one reward for events.
Over time, badges eventually developed into incentives for buying furs and shop items, being unlockable upon buying them in the shop. This process was gradual, taking place over about a year. This was because the gamut of furs that were released before badges received their complementary badges only after their sales ended. Newer furs' badges were prioritizing, only leading to the extension of the period of badge creation for older furs. At one point, the Lenneth's Helm head item also received its own badge.
During this process, badges also began being obtainable upon performing actions that helped the game developers. Instances include the Transformice 4th Anniversary Enigma and linking one's account to the Run for Cheese app.
Aesthetics
Badges maintain a distinct order on a player's profile. The order is as follows:
Other, Event, then Fur - and then list down by ID #.
An "official" badge tutorial by Maharadjah can be found on the official forums, and was originally made as a bonus for the fan-made Create a Badge contest.
Village
These badges are purchasable in the village via special currencies, and were first introduced in "content adventures" (adventure where content added is never removed).

Game modes
As of Version 1.298, all badges won for game modes "stack" and feature a small number on the bottom. For example, if you have played 2,000 rounds of survivor, you will receive a badge with a "2" on it.
Survivor
This is the first mode in the game to give badges rewards instead of titles, unlike other modes in Transformice.

Trivia
- Badge 41 (the "Striped Marmot Fur/Purple-Mantled Ground Squirrel") was released months after it was archived, or added, to the Transformice server, as can be seen by looking at the released dated for the badge number before and after it.
- Badge 55 was originally skipped, with the numbering going from 54 to 56. It then was added later to the server as around 8 August 2015. Before its release, people were unsure if the badge's unlock requirements would be related to Run for Cheese or Transformice's mobile release. It has since been released.
- There were no badges 37-39 up until 24 September 2015 (with not even images on the server until then), because such ID slots were reserved for the Red Panda, Calico Cat, and Doe furs.
- Badge 36 coincidentally represents Fur 36.
- The Easter 2014 badges have no sparkles, unless one counts the "twinkle" sparkles lightly and transparently overlapping said badges.
- The Christmas 2015 event is the first event (since badges were introduced) that initially had no event badges, but rather the Eskimouse fur. This is likely because the event instead introduced Cartouches in place of badges.
- The fourth adventure had badges IDs skip from 73 to 128 (id # after last racing badge ID). It is not currently known why the skip was done before reaching #120 (first survivor badge ID).
